Meet the Animals

Mammals

Mammals are vertebrate animals, they are endothermic (warm-blooded) and have hair on their bodies. They also produce milk to feed their babies. Mammals have adapted to life in all of the earth's ecosystems- deserts, rainforests, tundra, grasslands and marine environments. Mammals have evolved to swim, climb, fly, glide and walk on four legs (quadrupedal) or two legs (bipedal)! There are 5,488 named species of mammals according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
